Grieving the Loss of Daily Life Routine & Milestones During the Pandemic
We usually think about grief in response to death, but grief is a long collection of experiences. There is a lot of loss involved in what we’re living right now, like the loss of routine and the loss of human interaction. I recently spoke with KATU’s AM Northwest host Helen Raptis about different sorts of loss we’re experiencing during the COVID-19 pandemic, why acknowledging those losses is so important, why sometimes it’s important to take a break from the news, and more.
We’re all grieving– the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, the loss of our normal routines, even the loss of milestones like a child’s graduation. Psychotherapist Megan Devine, author of It’s OK That You’re Not OK, joined us to talk about the losses, both real and intangible, that we’re experiencing right now, along with why it’s completely normal and what we can do to work through it.

Now, as always, the very best place I know to connect YOU with other grieving folks is inside the Writing Your Grief community. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, there is always someone there: when you feel invisible inside your grief, these folks see you. When your friends have their own sh*t to deal with and you can’t lean on them, your WYG family is there. I mean it folks, this community is unlike any other place – online or IRL. The April session is open now and we’ve got room for you. Follow this link to join us, and pass it on.
