There’s no medicine for grief: so what do you do with it?

For physical pain, we have an entire pharmacopeia of medicine. But for deep emotional pain – we’ve got nothing. I know, I know, there are pharmaceuticals out there. Medications for various emotional states can be extremely useful in some situations, so I’m not dissing medication at all.

Just – for grief itself, there is no medicine that will fix things. For grief, you’re just supposed to…. deal with it. Even meditative and reflective tools aren’t always helpful. Grief is a different animal altogether. You just have to feel your pain.
